247 infections, 279 cured cases

ITANAGAR, Jun 9: Two more casualties, including that of a 40 plus patient with comorbidities and fully vaccinated, was recorded in Arunachal Pradesh today that pushed the State’s death toll to 128.

A 41-year-old male from Lower Subansiri district, who was suffering from hypertension and diabetes mellitus and tested positive for Covid-19 at the Flu Clinic of CTGH, Hapoli on June 1, was admitted at DCHC, Ziro on June 6 and expired there today (4.35 am). He died due to ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) with COVID pneumonia. The patient received the first dose of vaccine on March 22 and the second on April 24, informed State Surveillance Officer (IDSP), Dr L Jampa.

The second casualty was that of a 37-year-old female from Lohit district. The patient who was suffering from post operative Ca Thyroid (one month back) tested positive for Covid-19 at the Flu Clinic of Zonal Hospital, Tezu on June 8. She was admitted to DCH, Pasighat today and expired there at 1.15 pm. She died due to ARDS with COVID pneumonia. The patient’s vaccination status is nil.

In both cases, the body was handed over to the family members as per Covid-19 SOPs, said Dr Jampa.

Meanwhile, the State, for the sixth day in a row, witnessed the recoveries outnumbering the daily cases.

247 fresh cases were reported in the State during the past 24 hours that took its tally of confirmed cases to 30247. On the other hand, came 279 cases of recovery that further reduced its active caseload to 3271, and upped the total discharged cases to 26848.

Changlang reported the maximum 48 cases that took it to the second spot with an active caseload of 350. Itanagar Capital Complex, the most affected district, came next at 44 (more recoveries) that further lowered its active caseload to 563. West Kameng replaced Tawang to take the third place, as it found seven cases to take its tally to 239.

Among others, East Kameng found 20 cases, Lower Dibang Valley 18, East Siang & Kra-Daadi (13 each), Lower Subansiri & Namsai (12 each) and Upper Siang recorded 10.

117 of the total cases turned out to be asymptomatic and 130 symptomatic.

While the State’s active rate came below 11% to place at 10.81%, Changlang led the list of top three affected districts with a positivity rate count of 9% (as on today).

On the brighter side, ICC went on top with 62 recoveries, followed by Changlang at 32.Siang discharged 29, E/Siang 24, Papum Pare 20, L/Subansiri 19, LDV & U/Subansiri (17 each), Tawang 16 and Kurung Kumey 15, among other districts.

On a further downswing, the State today tested 5866 samples for Covid-19 that took its cumulative figure to 6,51,115.
