State reports a record five COVID casualties in one day, death toll at 133

245 infected, 302 discharged

ITANAGAR, Jun 10: In a record number of casualties reported in a single day in Arunachal Pradesh, five more including two from Itanagar Capital Complex died due to COVID related complications that mounted the State’s death toll to 133 today.

A 65-year-old female from ICC, who was suffering from diabetes mellitus, tested positive for Covid-19 at the Flu Clinic of TRIHMS, Nlg on May 25, was admitted at DCH, Chimpu on the same day and expired there yesterday (6.30 pm). She died due to ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) with COVID pneumonia, informed State Surveillance Officer (IDSP), Dr L Jampa.

The second casualty was that of a 64-year-old male, also from ICC, a positive patient with comorbidities (hypertension & psoriasis). After being infected on May 21 he was admitted at DCH, Chimpu four days later and expired there today (4.30 am). He also died due to ARDS with COVID pneumonia.

In the third case, a 30-year-old male from West Kameng district, suffering from hypertension, tested positive for Covid-19 at the Flu Clinic of Rupa CHC today and was admitted at the CHC. He died there due to the same causes.

The fourth casualty was that of an 84-year-old male from Lohit district. The anaemic patient tested positive at the Flu Clinic of Zonal Hospital, Tezu on June 1 and was admitted at the ZH on the same day. He died there today (11.30 am) due to COVID pneumonia.

In the fifth case, 81-year-old female from Tawang district, an asymptomatic patient with congestive heart failure who was in home isolation, died today (4.30 am). The patient received the first dose of vaccine on May 12.

In the first four cases, the patient’s vaccination status is nil, said Dr Jampa.

Barring the third (administration), in other instances the body was handed over to the family members as per Covid-19 SOPs, he added.

Meanwhile, the State, for the seventh straight day, witnessed more recoveries than the daily cases.

245 fresh cases were reported in the State during the past 24 hours that took its tally of confirmed cases to 30492. On the other hand, came 302 cases of recovery that further reduced its active caseload to 3209, and took the total discharged cases past 27k-mark to stand at 27150.

Itanagar Capital Complex, the most affected district, reported the maximum 35 cases (more recoveries) that further lowered its active caseload to 546. Changlang found 27 cases that took its tally to 349. West Kameng held on to its third place, as it found 20 cases (more cured cases) to lower its tally to 227.

Above Changlang came Namsai with 29 cases. Among others, Upper Subansiri detected 17 cases, Lower Subansiri 15, East Siang 14, Papum Pare & Lohit (13 each), and Leparada 10.

137 of the fresh cases were found to be asymptomatic and 108 symptomatic.

Changlang continues to lead the list of top three affected districts with a positivity rate count of 6% (as on today).

On the brighter side, ICC also went on top with 50 recoveries, followed by L/Subansiri at 32. W/Kameng discharged 31, Changlang 28, Lohit 27, Namsai 21, Tawang 17 and Leparada 14, among other districts.

The State today tested 6731 samples for Covid-19 that took its cumulative figure to 6,57,846.
