MIAO, Jun 17: Anong Singpho never imagined that his singing videos on social media will one day make him the first Bollywood singer from Arunachal Pradesh. That is exactly what happened.

The 27-year-old Anong, a regular performer at all his school functions at Government Higher Secondary School, Miao, used social media platforms to showcase his singing talents. One such video caught the attention of Zee Music Company, a popular Indian music company and a subsidiary of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, which offered him to sing for their label, making him the first Bollywood singer from Arunachal Pradesh.

“It is dream-come-true moment for me”, says Anong, a resident of Miao Singpho village of Changlang district. “Growing up, I always used to have dreams about singing for a Bollywood music company. I never imagined that would actually happen to me through this famous music label.”

Anong’s music single, Laut Aao Maa, was released by Zee Music Company as a tribute to all mothers on Mother’s Day 2021 and within a span of one month the video has been viewed by 14 lakh viewers on video sharing platform YouTube alone.

Picturized with the junior reality show contestant, Oupseng Namchoom, the single highlights the emotions a child goes through in the absence of his mother in this soothing number.

The song has been well received by people across the country. More than 14 lakh people have made positive comments on the video, singling out Anong’s voice for special appreciation.

The only son of Innao Ladoi Singpho and Jamai Thu Singpho, Anong says the response from people across the country has been overwhelming. “I never thought I would receive such an overwhelming appreciation. I feel I am lucky to receive so much love”, says the graduate from Delhi University.

Impressed by his voice quality, many music producers from the Hindi film industry are in discussion with him for future collaborations. “If all goes as planned, I will be soon singing for a web series produced by another popular Bollywood production company”, says Anong.

Asked if he has any advice for youngsters like him in the State, Anong says, “In this era of social media, stardom is up for grab. You need to keep your passion alive and opportunities will come knocking at your door. It did to me and so it would you, too. Always remember to put your feet firmly grounded and never let your popularity go to your head”, signed off the first Bollywood playback singer from Arunachal Pradesh.
