DC calls for village wise headcount to get actual estimate of eligible beneficiaries for vaccination

BOLENG, Jun 17: Aiming at a successful vaccination campaign in Siang district, Deputy Commissioner Atul Tayeng called for an immediate and thorough village wise headcount to get an actual estimate of the targetted population (eligible beneficiaries) in all age-groups of the district.

The DC, who chaired a review meeting today with health officials to deliberate on the rate of sample testing, vaccination coverage and infrastructure status, underlined the importance of involving PRI leaders and HGBs/GBs to dispel any misinformation surrounding testing or vaccination.

DRCHO Dr Kaling Tamuk highlighted the issue of a ‘floating population’ wherein the electoral roll used to derive the estimated population does not accommodate for persons who reside or are employed outside of the district but form part of the district’s electorate.

DMO Dr Rachel Darung and DSO Dr Amar Darung reported on the intensive random testing programme being undertaken in the district.

An augmented vaccination drive was approved with outreach sessions to be led by Incident Commanders and in-charge Covid Vaccination Centres (CVCs) in conjunction with PRI representatives and HGBs/GBs. (DIPRO)
