CHANGLANG, Jun 17: Changlang district has created a record of sorts by administering over 6,000 COVID-19 vaccine jabs to the beneficiaries of both 18-44 and 45-plus age groups in a single day.
On Wednesday, a total of 6,480 beneficiaries in the district were administered the anti-Covid-19 vaccine shots. 5516 people under the 18-44 years age bracket took the first jab of the vaccine, while 961 beneficiaries of 45-plus took the first dose and three others got the second dose.
Earlier, the Changlang Deputy Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav had announced a three-day ‘Tika Utsav’ from June 16, inviting all the eligible beneficiaries in the district to get their vaccine shots at their nearest health facility and help the DA and the district Health Dept achieve 100 percent coverage of vaccination.
Miao declared containment zone
Meanwhile, the DC on Wednesday issued an ‘order’ declaring the entire Miao township area as containment zone from June 17 to 24 to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
The DC said that the Miao township with high positivity rate may become a possible hotspot of COVID-19 unless strict measures are taken urgently for intensive screening including contact tracing of all the primary & secondary contacts of COVID-19 positive cases to contain further spread of virus and break the possible chain of transmission.
During the restriction period, there shall be no movement, whatsoever, in and out of the containment zone except for persons, vehicles involved in enforcement of containment plans and maintaining essential service including medical emergencies. Shops will open on Saturday only and ADC, Miao will ensure supply of essential items in the containment zone, he ordered.
