APSCPCR urges early arrest of rapist

ITANAGAR, Jun 17: Taking suo-moto cognizance of rape of a 10-year-old girl allegedly by one of her relatives in Radum village, Kamporijo circle in Kamle district earlier this year, the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) urged the district SP to immediately arrest the accused so as to award him punishment under appropriate section of the law.

APSCPCR informed that though the incident happened on January 29 last, an FIR was registered at Raga Police Station after the girl’s father filed a complaint on May 27. However, the accused is still at large.

The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kamle was also contacted by APSCPCR Chairperson Gumri Ringu who directed them to extend all possible help to the victim including follow up of the case. The chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Kamle informed that the child was shifted to Achukuru Child Care Institute, Ziro for her safety after the medical formalities. The APSCPCR has applauded the prompt action taken by the CWC, Kamle.
