ITANAGAR, Sep 14: The All East Kameng District Students’ Union (AEKDSU) has urged the State Government, particularly the Education Department, to immediately fill up all the vacant subject teachers’ posts in various government schools of the district.
AEKDSU general secretary Pritom Yangfo, in a press conference here today claimed that most of the state-run schools in East Kameng district have been facing shortage of subject teachers like Mathematics, Science, English teachers since 2005, because of which the students are the worst sufferers.
“Despite submission of representations to the state government repeatedly by us (AEKDSU) and the DDSE East Kameng as well for posting of required subject teachers, no response has been forthcoming till date,” he lamented.
“Every time, the government speaks about quality education, but it failed to post a single subject teacher in the district. How can they expect quality education? How can the government improve the education sector without teachers?” he questioned.
The AEKDSU leader also alleged that the elected representatives of East Kameng were not paying heed to address the shortage of subject teachers in the government schools of the district.
”Though the offline classes resumed after a long gap due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are no subject teachers in various government schools of the district and the students are facing lots of problems especially for Mathematics and Science subjects. There are more than 1000 science students in the district and without a special subject teacher what will be the future of those students? Who will take the responsibility for the future of those students?” AEKDSU education secretary Sichi Sangdo quipped.
