DGP reviews security parameters in oil and gas installation in State

ITANAGAR, Sep 18: In order to take review of security parameters in oil and gas installation in Arunachal Pradesh, DGP R P Upadhyay chaired a meeting of the Onshore Security Coordination Committee (OSCC), which has been constituted by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Govt of India, here yesterday.  

The meeting is arranged bi-annually to have a close coordination with police, administration and Oil companies to ensure uninterrupted supplies in the State with safety in the interest of the public at large in each and every corner of the region.

Upadhyay, who is also Chairman OSCC (Arunachal Pradesh unit), while inaugurating the meeting highlighted various potential threats and possible mitigation measures through infusion of cutting edge technology, gap analysis and proper coordination with all stakeholders. He asserted that there should be a proper mechanism between the Oil & Gas industry and police to help each other and share inputs of mutual interest.

Appreciating the role of the Oil industry in maintaining the supply line, the DGP assured to extend all possible support to all Oil Companies. He further reiterated that security of Oil installations go a long way in meeting the aspiration of the common men in the region.

During the deliberation, both Oil Companies and civil authorities assured that uninterrupted petroleum supplies to the consumer shall be maintained in the entire region and the security of Oil installations shall have paramount importance without any compromise.

Convener of OSCC for Arunachal Pradesh - Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, Director (HR), Indian Oil Corporation Limited, who is also currently holding charge of Advisor (Security), lauded the efforts of the Police department and district administration in extending support to the State of Arunachal Pradesh in spite of terrain challenges, which has enabled Oil industry in maintaining smooth operation of supply of petroleum products in the region.

Welcoming the participants, G Ramesh, executive director & State head, IOAOD SO expressed his gratitude to police and State administration in Arunachal Pradesh for providing all support for ensuring preferences to movement of POL transportation.

The meeting, hosted by IOCL, was attended by Devender Kapoor, CGM (security), CO, DGM (S), IGP (L&O), IGP (admin), DIG (HQs), DIG (intelligence), senior officials from CRPF and officials from Geology & Mining and Home departments of Arunachal Pradesh, ONGC, Oil India, HPCL and BPCL etc.
