AALO, Sep 18: The ‘pay and use toilet’ built in the heart of Aalo town in the lines of metropolitan cities was inaugurated by local MLA cum Advisor (Law & Justice) Kento Jini on Saturday. The facility was constructed on public-private-partnership mode under the initiative of UD & Housing Department.

The legislator lauded the effort of the department and contractors for jointly carrying out the work in the heart of the town where the offices of DC, SBI, Post Office, and Paktu Bango market and other important establishments are located. He urged them to charge minimal rate from the users and keep the asset neat and clean as their own property.

He said that officers from the district have been asked to gear up the welfare and development activities of the town that is lagging behind in all spheres. He added that ambitious potable water project for Aalo town, installation of four ICUs, CT scan machine, Dialysis Unit, Yono health machine at the General Hospital, CC pavements in all sectors are being taken up, and exhorted all to work as a team to rejuvenate development of the town.

West Siang Deputy Commissioner Penga Tato said that public utility services are must in the busy township areas and asked the department and contractors to maintain it on a daily basis.

UD & Housing Executive Engineer Hally Welly disclosed that the pay and use toilet has been leased out for 30 years with a monthly rent of Rs 8,000 from the date of its inauguration with 5% increase annually.

Social service: Meanwhile, the alumni of GHSS Aalo conducted a social service despite downpour today. They came with grass cutter machine and other utensils to clear a large portion of the grass and debris in the school campus.

In absence of a general ground at Aalo “due to inordinate delay in construction of the stadium”, the school ground is being used as makeshift venue for all state and national day celebrations for the last five years. (DIPRO)
