KANUBARI, Sep 18: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longding led by its in-charge head A Kirankumar Singh celebrated the International Year of Millets, 2023 Campaign on ‘Nutri garden and tree plantation’ with the participation of 39 farmers and girls in tree plantation and 11 Anganwadi workers in Rashtriya Poshan Maah at Kanubari with a recipe competition displaying different local preparations.

The tree plantation started at Dasattong village with the participants led by the Raja of the village and others. Tree plantation was done in and around the Church and roadside of the highway. After the tree plantation the participants were distributed with different fruits and tree saplings to all of them.

Singh briefed the participants about the importance of tree plantation at this juncture of global warming and importance of fruit plants to keep us healthy in order to protect from different diseases.

Later, Singh proceeded to the recipe competition at the ICDS Complex.

During the programme, Singh told the participants about the importance of feeding a balanced diet to the children for making them healthy and free from any diseases. He stressed the role of Nutri Garden to be promoted with the Anganwadi centres through the KVK under the programme of NARI in different villages. He also stressed the importance of local vegetables to make a balanced diet for the children.
