Governor extends greetings on Makar Sankranti, Pongal and Magh Bihu

urges people to strictly adhere to COVID SOPs, take two doses of vaccine

ITANAGAR, Jan 13: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra has extended his greetings and good wishes to the people of the State on the auspicious occasions of Makar Sankranti, Pongal and Magh Bihu. He also conveyed his warm felicitations to the Sanatani, Tamil and Assamese brethren living in the State on these festive occasions and expressed his hope that the festive season and the New Year will be filled with peace, happiness, and prosperity for all.

In his message, the Governor said that Makar Sankranti is one of the most sacred bathing festivals celebrated with great devotion and religious fervour throughout the country. Lakhs of people pray to Lord Sun and take holy dip at Ganga Sagar confluence in West Bengal, rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati confluence at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh and Parasuram Kund of Lohit River in Arunachal Pradesh, he said.

While wishing that these festivities bind each one of us in perpetual love and affection, the Governor offered his special good wishes to the pilgrims and devotees coming to Parasuram Kund, on Makar Sankranti and welcomed them in the State and prayed for their safe and secure holy dip at Parasuram Kund.

In view of the surge of the COVID-19 cases in the State, the Governor urged the people to strictly adhere to COVID Appropriate Behaviour through proper use of face mask, frequent washing of hands and social distancing viz ‘Do Gaz Ki Doori’. He also appealed to them for taking two doses of COVID vaccine at the earliest, without apprehension of any kind.
