In highest single day spike, State logs 435 fresh cases

ITANAGAR, Jan 19: Amid the intensifying rate of infections, Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday recorded a massive 435 fresh COVID positive cases – the highest single day spike in virus reported in the State in the third wave this year, exceeding its earlier highest when it had logged 404 cases on January 17 last.

Following this, the State’s active caseload has escalated to 1938 and the confirmed cases tally to 57,822.

With 194 cases getting discharged on the day post their recovery from the ailment, the State’s total discharged cases swelled to 55,602. The death toll remained at 282 as no casualty was reported on the day, according to a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services here this evening.

Of the fresh infections, Itanagar Capital Complex came up with the majority of cases at 138, followed by West Kameng at 40. The districts that registered two-digit figures include Changlang (37), Namsai (35), Lower Dibang Valley (31), Lohit (28), Papum Pare (26), Lower Subansiri (23), East Siang (22), Longding (15) and Lower Siang (10). Among others, Pakke-Kessang found six cases.

Among the freshly infected, one is NDRF personnel in ICC and one from GREF camp, Yingkiong (Upper Siang).

Of the total cases, 232 turned out to be asymptomatic and 203 symptomatic, as per the health bulletin.

Persisting with a rising graph, the day’s positivity rate today mounted to 26.75 percent, which figured at 24.17% on Tuesday.

On the recovery front, ICC continued on top with 86 discharged cases, followed by Lohit at 24. Namsai discharged 22, LDV 18 and W/Kameng 16 while nine each were seen off in E/Siang and Changlang.

On an upswing, the State today tested 1626 samples for Covid-19 that took its cumulative figure to 12,21,290.
