Take up agri-horti activities: Taki to upcoming entrepreneurs

ZIRO, Jan 19: Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Dairy Development Minister Tage Taki today distributed five quintals of Thai seedless lemon (a organic variety) to the patients and staff of Gyati Takka General Hospital (GTGH) in presence of several HoDs of Lower Subansiri district.

Talking to the media, Taki, who is also the local MLA, said that it is a grand occasion that the State is celebrating its 50 years in naming of Arunachal Pradesh and added “we have come a long way in our journey to development and we have lots to do in the future”.

The one-month-long Golden Jubilee is starting from here tomorrow, albeit, by maintaining all COVID safety protocols, he stated.

We have distributed five quintals of organic lemon donated by progressive farmer Likha Maj and lauded his role in promoting ‘Vocal for Local” and called upon the upcoming entrepreneurs to be a part of agri-horti activities.

The lemon distributed today has a huge nutritional value and it would help in the fight against the Covid-19, he stated.

The State has a vast potential for growing several agriculture and horticulture products through which we can earn and upgrade our economic condition, the Minister said.

Deputy Commissioner Somcha Lowang briefed the Minister on COVID update in the district and exhorted the general masses to follow Covid SOPs to stay safe and healthy.

Likha Maj, in his speech, said that for the last three years his farm-produced Thai seedless lemon has been donated to several hospitals, DCHC, CCC, PHC, CHC, orphanage, hostels, which, he added is helping in fight again the COVID.

Following a request from the Minister, DMO Dr Tage Kano and other medical officers of GTGH (Ziro), Maj assured to provide a kidney dialysis unit to the hospital.
