Public hearing on PMAY held at Ziro

ZIRO, Nov 24: The Urban Development Department conducted a public hearing (Jan Sunwai) on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) at old DC office premises here on Tuesday, in the presence of Independent Facilitating Agency (IFA) and the department of  UD & Housing, Ziro.

The IFA was led by RGU Asstt Prof John Gaingamlung Gangmei with Toko Yami (AE, UD, Ziro), Tilling Dumi (SDE expert), Abin Tok (Town planner) and Tamchi Yani (MIS expert) as members. The team interacted with the beneficiaries and heard the difficulties faced by them.

After the completion of the social audit, the members decided to request the higher authorities of UD Dept to release the remaining fund for payment to the beneficiaries, who have completed the construction of buildings and also for other beneficiaries, whose buildings construction are in progress.

PMAY is a flagship program of Govt of India and is implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). Their ‘mission’ is to address urban housing among the EWS/LIG and MIG categories. The requirements for availing this benefit are that the household should have an annual income between 3-18 lakh and the applicant or any family member is not supposed to own a pucca house. (DIPRO)
