COVID claims one more life, State’s death toll at 285

ITANAGAR, Jan 27: Following a day’s interruption, the State today reported one more fatality that raised its death toll to 285.

A 60-year-old female positive patient from Itanagar Capital Complex, who was suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), died at DCH, Chimpu on Wednesday evening, due to cardio respiratory arrest with COVID pneumonia. She had received both doses of COVID vaccine, as per a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services here this evening.

Conversely, the State today recorded 455 more positive cases and 431 recoveries. As a result, its active caseload has swelled to 3332 and the confirmed cases tally to 61,247. The total discharged cases have increased to 57,630.

Of the new detections, Itanagar Capital Complex continued to stay on top by recording 142 cases, followed by Lohit at 33. The other districts that came up with double-digit cases included East Siang (31), Leparada & Lower Subansiri (27 each), East Kameng (26), West Siang (25), Namsai (24), Tawang & West Kameng (17 each), Longding (15), Papum Pare (12), and Kamle & Lower Dibang Valley (10 each). Among others, Changlang found eight cases and Upper Siang seven.

220 of the total cases were found to be asymptomatic and 235 symptomatic, according to the health bulletin.

The day’s positivity rate was 22.06 percent, which figured at 27.55% on Wednesday.

On the brighter side, ICC also came on top with 137 discharged cases, followed by Namsai at 74, among other districts.

The State today tested 2062 samples for Covid-19, taking its cumulative figure to 12,33,348. 

Meanwhile, the State, in a reverse, witnessed 348 recoveries and 194 fresh cases the previous day.
