One more dies of COVID, State's toll reaches 291

ITANAGAR, Feb 3: Arunachal Pradesh today recorded back-to-back casualties, as one more COVID patient with comorbidity from Lohit district died today that scaled-up the State’s death toll to 291.

A 50-year-old-female, who was suffering from chronic liver cirrohis, tested positive at zonal hospital, Tezu on February 3, and was admitted at DCHC, Tezu. She died there at 1 pm, due to upper GI bleed with Covid-19 pneumonia, informed State Surveillance Officer Dr L Jampa, adding the patient had not received any dose of the vaccine.

The body was handed over to the family members as per Covid-19 SOPs, Dr Jampa said.

Meanwhile, the State continues to witness the recoveries going beyond the new cases for the seventh straight day.

With 226 cases logged in the past 24 hours, the State’s tally of confirmed cases crossed the 63k-mark to 63,119 and 404 fresh recoveries swelled the total discharged to 60,632. As a result, its active caseload has further plunged to 2196.

Of the new detections, Itanagar Capital Complex contracted the majority of cases at 61, followed by Lower Subansiri at 31 and East Siang at 23. Among other districts, Lohit registered 20 cases, West Kameng 16, Tawang 13 and Namsai 12 while seven each were found in Changlang and Longding.

Of the total cases, 115 were found to be asymptomatic and 111 symptomatic.

With a slight increase, the State’s daily positivity rate was 11.31 percent, which stood at 10.74% on Wednesday.

On the recovery front, ICC topped the chart of cured cases at 114. Lohit discharged 33 cases, while 31 each came from E/Siang and L/Subansiri, among others.

On a downswing, the State tested 1998 samples for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, taking its aggregate figure to 12,44,945.
