ITANAGAR, Feb 3: The Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) has assured that it would check forceful donation collections from its members in business community by 'unauthorized' organizations.

Stating that many organizations harass the business community by resorting to forceful donation collection, the newly elected IMWA president Dado Tajuk at a press conference here today said that he will not let the trend continue during his tenure.

“You cannot indulge in such activity without informing us. If any organization is found indulging in such activities I will file FIR against them,” he said.

The IMWA president also urged the vendors selling items on the footpath to not set up their makeshift shops in such a way. Maintaining that such activity not only creates inconvenience for the shopkeeper outside whose shop the vendor is sitting but also for the customers who visit the shop, he assured that he would find a suitable place for them to run their shops.

IMWA general secretary Nanu Taw Tara said that beautification of the business areas is also a focus for the new IMWA team. Saying that a major drawback regarding beautification is garbage, he urged traders to throw garbage only in the designated spots.

He also called upon the dwellers to throw the wrappers of the eatables in the dustbin.

Tara further said that there are many traders under the jurisdiction of IMWA who do not possess valid documents mandatory for doing business. He said that the IMWA with concerned authority will make surprise visits to every shop to check documents. “And if you are caught without documents, we will not be able to help you,” he said, urging all of them to keep their documents updated.

He also said that inconsistency in rates of items will be sorted out soon.
