Sensitization cum counselling program conducted under 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan'

CHANGLANG, Feb 3: As a part of the Central Government’s ambitious 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' (Drug Free India Campaign), a two-day sensitization program cum counselling session was conducted in the district by Women Against Social Evils (WASE), the Pasighat-based all-women group actively involved in the fight against evils plaguing the society.

The program was organized in collaboration with the district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav, to sensitize and motivate women groups, youths, self help groups, and CBOs to come forward and play an active role in the fight against drug abuse, alcoholism and illicit trafficking for achieving a sustainable world free of drug abuse . 

Till date, around 15 villages under Changlang district have been covered under the various activities of the Campaign which include preventive action, mass education, sensitization, capacity building of service providers, positive partnership with educational institutions, augmentation of treatment, rehabilitation and counselling facilities.

WASE president Yamin Dulom Darang, general secretary Jaya Tasung Moyong, resource person Dr Runi Tasung motivated the participants with their impact full speeches, counselling and power-point presentations. 

Kantang ZPM Renu Mungrey, Khimiyang ZPM Kapjong Techi, Nyasam Jongsam, publicity secretary of Longchang Elite Society, Marina Kenglang, former ZPC, Dr M Kimhun, Medical Superintendent, DH Changlang, women self help groups actively participated in the program. Dr Mary N Taloh EAC, Dr Rani Mibang EAC, and Todak Riba, CO Khimiyang coordinated and led the events in Bubang, Yanman and Old Changlang villages. The program culminated with counselling session of 61 addicts, who would soon undergo de-addiction program from Bubang village. (DIPRO)
