Workshop on “Citrus cultivation with inter-cropping of ginger in hill region”

PADU (Upper Siang), Feb 4: A one-day workshop on “Citrus cultivation with inter-cropping of ginger in hill region” and awareness programme was held at Padu village in Upper Siang district. 

A total of 54 farmers from Padu and Adi-Pasi villages participated in the programme under the project “ARIK ABIK LUNOM -Mobile Based Agro Advisory Services in Arunachal Pradesh”, being implemented by the College of Horticulture and Forestry, CAU, Pasighat in collaboration with Digital India Corporation (DIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Govt of India. 

The broad objective of the project, being implemented in nine districts of Arunachal Pradesh including Upper Siang, is to provide right information at right time and empower the farmers in taking informed decision to enhance their livelihood through Mobile Based Agro Advisory Services in local dialects. 

The programme was inaugurated by Mariyang ADC Monjuly Komut in presence of Prof BN Hazarika, Dean, CHF, CAU, Pasighat, Nano Moyong, ZPM (Mopom), Dr Saroj Kumar Pattanaaik, PI, m4agri-Arunachal Project, and Jyoti Borang, Circle Officer, Mopom.

After the inauguration, the farmers were trained about full package of practices of citrus cultivation, ginger cultivation and the problems faced by them and their solutions.
