AAPSU observes martyrs’ day

ITANAGAR, Feb 4: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) observed its annual martyrs’ day at the NEFA Club here today in a low-key way, owing to Covid-19 SOPs.

State Information Commissioner Gumjum Haider, who is also the former AAPSU general secretary, attended the programme as ‘resource person’ and shared his experiences and inputs.

The AAPSU organizes its martyrs’ day on 4th February every year to remember the sacrifices of its former leaders.

Owing to the sudden demise of Liki Ete, former general secretary AAPSU on Thursday, a condolence programme in his memory was also organized along with the martyrs’ day.

Speaking briefly on late Ete’s life and tenure as an AAPSU leader, AAPSU GS Tobom Dai recalled his valuable contributions to the growth of student activism across the state.

“Born to late Minli Ete and late Rei Karbi Ete, Liki Ete was a straight forward person and a dynamic leader under whose initiative mass movement against refugees was organized across the state after his election as the GS of AAPSU in the early 90’s,” Dai said.
