HM Amit Shah arriving today, to launch a slew of dev projects

ITANAGAR, May 20: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is arriving in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday on a two-day visit to attend a number of official events in Tirap, Lohit and Namsai districts.

Besides, the Union Home Minister, during his two-day stay, will launch a slew of developmental projects and will have security and development review and interaction sessions with various central government agencies at Namsai before leaving for Delhi via Dibrugarh in Assam, official sources said on Friday.

This will be his second visit to the frontier state. He had last visited Arunachal Pradesh in February 2020 to attend the 34th Statehood Day celebration.

Soon after his arrival, the Home Minister will grace the ‘Swarn Jayanti Samaroh’ (Golden Jubilee celebration) of Ramakrishna Mission School, Narottam Nagar, Deomali in Tirap district. After that, he will fly to Parshuram Kund to lay the foundation of a 51-feet statue of Bhagwan Parshuram at the famous pilgrimage site near Wakro in Lohit district.

After a night halt at the Golden Pagoda guest house in Namsai, Shah will meet with social organizations before addressing a public meeting at the Multi-Purpose Cultural Hall, Namsai, where he will be inaugurating as many as 22 developmental projects and laying the foundation stones for 25 other projects across Arunachal Pradesh, highly placed sources said.

The Home Minister will have security & development review and interaction sessions and ‘Bada Khana’ with Indian Army, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles, Border Roads Organization (BRO) and National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) personnel.

Shah will also offer prayers at the Golden Pagoda, also known as ‘Kongmu Kham’ in the Tai-Khamti language, a Burmese-style Buddhist temple opened in 2010 which is a cynosure for the visitors.

The Home Minister’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh is a part of the mega cross-country tour during which he has been attending public, political and official events. He has already visited Assam, Telangana, Kerala and Uttarakhand and would be visiting Maharashtra and Gujarat next on May 27 & 28 respectively, sources added.
