Papum Pare DEPC meets

YUPIA, May 20: The Papum Pare District Export Promotion Committee (DEPC) on Friday had a meeting at the DC’s conference hall here to have a discussion on finalization of the ‘district export action plan’ to transform the district into an ‘export hub’.

DEPC Chairman cum Deputy Commissioner Sachin Rana, who chaired the meeting, while speaking to the members of DEPC emphasized on identifying champion products of the district on the district map so that at suitable locations Common Facility Centres can be established for the producers. He also suggested collaborating with celebrities to promote local textiles and handicrafts.

Five progressive farmers-cum-entrepreneurs namely, Tana Tada, Likha Chada, Nangram Kaha, Nara Loma and Ngurang Rajesh have been selected from the district to attend a 5-day export orientation programme at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Kolkata beginning May 23.

In the meeting, the progressive farmers shared their experiences and a few grievances including lack of finances for setting up of common processing units, vehicles for transportation of their products as well as lack of knowledge about bigger markets.

All the concerned HoDs present in the meeting have assured to provide necessary support.

Trade Development Officer (Yupia) Tai Arun also spoke. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director of Industries-cum-convenor (DEPC) D T Aka and other members including the DAO, DHO, DDTH, DFDO and DAHVO. (DIPRO)
