‘Khelo India’ bronze medallist Kaken Doyom accorded warm welcome on return home

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: Kaken Doyom, who won a bronze medal at the recently concluded 1st Khelo India youth, junior & senior national ranking women weightlifting tournament in Himachal Pradesh, was accorded warm reception on her arrival at Naharlagun railway station today.

Several well-wishers, family members and sports lovers among others felicitated Kaken, a student of Class-XII from Govt Hr Sec School, Kankar Nallah (Naharlagun).

Speaking to media, Kaken, who bagged the medal in junior event (40kg category), stated that it was a happy moment for us that we (four women) represented Arunachal Pradesh in 1st Khelo India youth, junior & senior national ranking women weightlifting tournament, which was held at Bagwan in Himachal Pradesh from June 14 to 22.

Kaken whose father Yumka Doyom and others reside at Yegri in Tribin circle of Leparada district said: “I am not satisfied with my bronze medal effort and so plans to achieve higher success. To this end, from today onwards I will toil harder for better performances and even eying on attending other national and international events.”

The bronze medallist along with three of her teammates - Techi Nadam, Mercy Teli and Pungni Tara was also felicitated on the occasion.
