Orientation workshop on Nyishi script, third language & dictionary held

ITANAGAR, Jul 16: A day-long brainstorming orientation workshop on Nyishi script, third language and dictionary was conducted at DK Convention Hall here on Saturday.

While chairing the sessions, Nyishi Elite Society (NES) vice president Tarh Tabin called upon all the stakeholders to steer this movement for development, popularization and propagation of Nyishi language with right earnest.

NES general secretary Heri Maring, while highlighting the attempts made by different stakeholders including the members of sub-committee on Nyishi working dictionary drawn from various regions of Nyishi-dominated districts of the state in attaining the ‘goal’, said that it was the dream of NES president and himself to develop Nyishi script for Nyishi third language. “Now, our dream has come true with the publication of Nyishi third language text which is being taught in the schools,” he said.

Earlier in his introductory notes, Dr N T Rikam, Chairman of the Nyishi Third Language Text Development Committee and Dictionary Committee, highlighted the efforts of the committee in development of Nyishi language and also the purpose of the programme.

The committee has already prepared study materials for all classes, and the working dictionary on Nyishi is under progress, he informed. He further informed that the State Government has already introduced Nyishi as third language for class VI, VII & VIII students in the Nyishi-dominated districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

Tarh Choya, member of the committee presented vividly the script and third language of Nyishi while Prof Nabam Nakha Hina presented preliminary works on Nyishi Dictionary which were followed by constructive comments and suggestions from the participants. Dr Nabam Tata, member of the committee also spoke and offered valuable suggestions during the workshop.

The day-long programme ended with a formal vote of thanks from Er Gyamar Tachung, secretary in-charge Capital Complex, NES.
