ITANAGAR, Aug 5: The Kurung Kumey District Police has arrested two persons, including a sub-contractor engaged in a BRO road project at Huri (Damin) in the district in connection with the Koloriang PS case (No. 10/22) registered U/S 341/506/420/406 IPC r/w Sec 27 Arms Act after the last month’s sensational labourers’ missing case.

While confirming the arrest of the duo - Bengia Tani and Roham Ali, Koloriang Police Station OC Gejum Basar said that “Ali is in police custody now, while Tani is out on bail by the court due to Covid (infection)”.

Altogether 19 BRO workers had gone missing from the Huri camp under Damin circle of the district on July 5. While 10 of them were found alive in feeble condition and rescued, bodies of five were found in a decomposed state, and one drowned in the Furak river.

With the whereabouts of the remaining three labourers not known despite a spirited search and rescue operation that continued for nearly three weeks, the district administration had officially closed the search operation on August 1.
