CHF holds training program at E/Siang, LDV villages

ROING, Aug 5: A one day awareness-cum-training programme on ‘Scientific Rice Cultivation and its Management’ was conducted at Bolung village in Lower Dibang Valley district today.

A total of 56 farmers participated in the programme, which is under project “ARIK ABIK LUNOM -Mobile Based Agro Advisory Services in Arunachal Pradesh”, implemented by the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat, in collaboration with Digital India Corporation (DIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Govt of India, New Delhi.

The broad objective of the project is to provide right information at the right time and empower the farmers in taking informed decisions to enhance their livelihood through Mobile Based Agro Advisory Services in local dialect.

The project is being implemented in nine districts of Arunachal Pradesh viz East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Siang, Siang, Leparada, Lower Dibang Valley, Namsai and Shi-Yomi.

The programme, coordinated by Dr Saroj Kumar Pattanaaik, Associate Professor & Principal Investigator, m4agri-Arunachal Project, CHF, was attended by GPC Bolung (Roing), Tum Pertin, Toba Jini and Roshni Tapak.

The farmers were trained about the recent techniques of nursery preparation, cultivation of rice and management of weeds, fertilizers, FYM and insects, pests and diseases of rice.

Meanwhile, 52 farmers from Berung village in East Siang district participated in an ‘awareness-cum-sensitization and training program’ on ‘Introduction and Cultivation of Exotic Vegetable Crops’,  yesterday.

Dr Pattanaaik and Dr Pranabjyoti Sarma, Professor, CHF, imparted training.

Dr Sarma trained the farmers about the nursery preparation of vegetables, cultivation of exotic vegetables and mulching.

Dr Pattanaaik explained the mechanization of commercial vegetable production, irrigation kits for kitchen garden vegetable cultivation.

During the program, Onyop Taki, GPC and Olom Panggeng, GB Berung, also attended.
