Drug worth Rs 82 cr seized in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 7: A combined team of state forces seized drugs worth Rs 82 crore on Sunday.

A strong team of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) , Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and Lilong Police led by Commandant 8 IRB , N. Nimai , based on specific inputs about manufacturing of illegal drugs in Lilong Chingkham Makha, PS Lilong, a strong team of 8 IRB led Commandant N. Nimai, raided the house of a woman identified as Imem Bibi at Lilong Chingkham Makha Leikai, Thoubal district.

A person identified as Yumkhaibam Mustafa was found illegally manufacturing suspected Brown Sugar .

A total of 54.685 kgs of Brown Sugar which is estimated to be worth Rs 82 crore in international market were seized after observing legal formalities. According to N Nimai, the raid was conducted after getting specific information about illegal activities being carried out in the area. The combined team swung into action around 12.30 am which led to the successful seizure of drugs .

Besides the drugs, the team also recovered many other articles used during the illegal activities like chemicals, utensils, gas burners, cylinder, mobile phone .

The seized incriminating articles along with the arrested accused person were handed over to Lilong PS for further necessary legal action. (UNI)
