DOIMUKH, Sep 14: Academy for Cricketing Excellence (ACE) was crowned the champion of the 1st Taha Atu memorial cricket tournament, defeating Itanagar Cricket Club by 6 wickets in the final played at AB cricket ground here.
After winning the toss, Itanagar captain Suraj Tayam decided to bat first and scored a total of 112/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Opener Tai Magung scored the highest 65 runs, while Biki Kumar scored 15 runs.
For the winning team, Gepal Taipodia and Yorjum Sera took 2 wickets each, while Takar Muri and Suhel Akhtar Ansari took 1 wicket each.
In reply, ACE chased the target in just 17.2 overs.
Vicky Ranjan, Kumar Nyompu and Gautam Kumar scored 66, 15 and 10 runs respectively for the winning team.
Geyom Ado took 3 wickets for his team, while Biki Kumar took 1 wicket.
Gautam Kumar (ACE) was awarded the most valuable player of the tournament and player of the series, Chandan Kumar Singh (Itanagar) became the highest wicket-taker, Gepal Taipodia (ACE) was declared man of the match while Nabam Tempol of Balijan Cricket Association received the catch of the tournament award.
Arunachal Cricket Association president T C Tok and ACA secretary Kabak Geda among others witnessed the final match.
The tournament was organized by the Doimukh Cricket Association and supported by ‘We Foundation’.
