First of 10 libraries to be set up by DA opened at GSS, Mani

YUPIA, Nov 24: The first of the 10 libraries to be set up by the District Administration, Papum Pare in 10 secondary schools of the district, and funded under the DA's untied funds, was inaugurated by Tana Hali Tara, MLA cum Advisor Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries at the Govt Secondary School, Mani today in presence of Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Sachin Rana.

Addressing the students and the teaching staff of the school, the MLA lauded the District Administration for ‘prioritizing to improve the education sector in the district’.

“Knowledge is power and libraries are the storehouse of knowledge. I am confident that the establishment of this library will help our students gain more knowledge, inculcate reading habits in them and guide them to be good citizens of the nation,” Tara said.

He also donated a few books for the school library and urged the panchayat leaders and SMC members to help the library grow by contributing books for it.

The DC informed that the library project has been funded under the DA’s untied fund. “Ten secondary schools of Papum Pare district have been shortlisted for providing funds to establish libraries and the library at GSS Mani inaugurated today is the first among those 10 schools,” he added.

He further exhorted the students and teachers to avail the benefit of the library.

It s worth mentioning here that the DA in Papum Pare has already funded STEM labs (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in Govt Hr Sec Schools at Doimukh, Sagalee and Balijan and a Language laboratory at JNV Gumto. The STEM labs aim to improve the scientific temperament in the children.

Dr Nikita Panggam, EAC cum PD (DRDA), Tana Yaho, SDO Doimukh, T T Tara, DDSE, MO PHC Mani, SMC members and officials from DDSE establishment were also present. (DIPRO)
