Tawang residents take to street seeking justice for toddler killed by his father

ITANAGAR, Jan 24: A candle light march was jointly organised by the Women’s Welfare Association (WWA), Tawang and All Monpa Students’ Union (AMSU) from Chamlang ground, Tawang Monastery to Old market, Tawang on Tuesday, seeking justice for a 2-year-old kid who was allegedly murdered by his father, Ashok Kumar on Sunday last.

It was a moment of solidarity that brought ordinary citizens from all walks of life in a march to seek justice for the innocent child. Hundreds of people converged at Chamlang ground and participated in the candle light march.

The WWA Tawang and the AMSU demanded strict punishment against the culprit as per law.

Police sources said that the man, who allegedly killed his two-year-old son on January 22, was arrested from the Jung Kharsa area.

As per sources, Kumar runs a grocery shop near the Tri-junction on Brigade Road.

He was reported absconding after committing the crime, prompting the district police officials to alert all the check gates.

The accused was detained by the district police and officials who also expressed gratitude to the residents of West Kameng and Tawang for helping with the investigation.
