He directed the authorities to ensure cleanliness in the de-addiction center to keep the environment healthy for all and stressed on discipline, healthy food, counseling and yoga on a regular basis in particular for a healthy body and mind.

Continued use of drugs might be a result of insecurities, destructive and cause of depression, anxiety etc and finally social non-acceptance leading to negative consequences, opined the DC and in order to eradicate this evil, he appealed to the government functionaries and NGOs to sensitize the society about the harmful effects of drug abuse through massive awareness by delivering information through interactive methods and cultural sensitivity.

He also urged the people to avoid ‘scare’ tactics but to find out ways and extend help as friends for those who have fallen into the trap of drugs, for any reason.

The DMO advised the inmates to strongly resolve to kick the habit of drug addiction with strong determination and commitment. They should properly take medical treatment administered at the centre and make themselves free from the clutches of drug abuse.

He informed the visiting DC that altogether 10 addicted persons from East Siang and neighboring districts have been admitted at present and all were being provided required facilities and guidance. He also briefed about the ongoing construction works of the 30-bedded new building, volleyball and badminton courts and ‘internal’ roads etc under Smart City project which are expected to be completed at the end of June, this year.
