Thousands take part in candlelit vigil

Show support to the family of martyred jawan

KHONSA, Mar 29: Showing support to the family of the martyred IRBn constable Wangniam Bosai, a candlelit vigil was held here today in which thousands of people from all walks of life participated.

Expressing solidarity with the family of late Wangniam Bosai who was martyred in his line of duty on 26th March last, a mass candlelight vigil was conducted under the banner of ATDSU (All Tirap District Students’ Union) and Kaimai Welfare Youth Club at the Khonsa Bazar taxi stand in which thousands of people from all walks of life took part, said a DIPRO report.

The candlelit vigil began with shouting of slogans ‘AMAR RAHEN AMAR RAHEN - Wangniam Bosai Amar Rahen’,’ WE WANT JUSTICE’.

A two minutes silence was also observed on the occasion, as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

In honour of the martyred jawan, the business community also downed their shutters.

While leading the candlelit vigil, ATDSU president Jawang Bangsia appealed to the government to compensate the bereaved family with an ex-gratia as admissible and to arrest the killers as soon as possible.

ZPM Bari-Basip Tediap Hallang, on behalf of all ZPMs, expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family and appealed to the security forces to apprehend the murderers as early as possible. He also requested all to cooperate with the security forces to nab the culprits.

Sr public leader Wintung Bosai and KWYC president Tingwang Hosai condemned the ‘brutal’ killing of Wangniam Bosai and appealed to the security forces to apprehend the criminals as early as possible.

On behalf of the bereaved family and organizing committee, Sanwang Hosai expressed gratitude to all for participating in the programme and sought cooperation from all walks of life to apprehend the culprits.
