Two-day mock exercise on flood scenario conducted in East Siang

PASIGHAT, Mar 29: In a bid to get prepared for disaster management, a two-day mock exercise on emergency and rescue measures, conducted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Itanagar in association with the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), concluded in East Siang district today.

A team of NDRF, Itanagar in collaboration with the DDMA, East Siang conducted a mock drill on emergency and rescue measures today to prevent natural disasters caused by flood etc at Borguli village under Mebo sub-division.

The mock exercise on flood rescue scenario was conducted through a practical demonstration on flood rescue operations like line and search rescue, dry and wet rescue, deep diving and rescue, evacuation of stranded flood victims, medical attention to them, stretcher making, etc.

East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu, DDMO Tsangpa Tashi, Mebo ADC Ainstein Koyu, EAC Janes Mary Tayeng, CO Radhe Tatung and all other stakeholders like HoDs, PRIs, NGOs, Police, SDRF, F&ES and AAPDA Mitra volunteers from Mebo area today participated in the exercise and understood their responsibilities in difficult time.

During this exercise, people were trained to effectively and efficiently cope with emergency or disastrous situations like floods and to prepare to prevent the same, besides the role of NDRF.

Earlier, a daylong table top exercise was held yesterday under the supervision of Mebo EAC involving NDRF personnel, community volunteers (AAPDA Mitra), GBs, PRI members, line department etc. (DIPRO)
