DHS gives warm send-off to Dr Emi Rumi

ITANAGAR, Mar 29: The officers and staff of the Directorate of Health Services accorded a warm farewell to Dr Emi Rumi, Director Family Welfare, who is retiring on 31st of this month, at the DHS conference hall, Naharlagun today.

Dr Rumi joined the govt service as MO on 19th August, 1985 under Central Health Services at Kolkata after completing his MBBS from RG Kar Medical College from the same place. Thereafter, he served at the then Naharlagun General Hospital (joined on 24.01.86) and PHC, Raga (the same year).

Subsequently, he was posted to District Hospital, Along (now Aalo) as medical superintendent on 17.02.92. Later, he was designated as DMO, Yupia but later joined as DDHS (GA) on 03.07.96.

 Later, he took over the charge of PD, APSACS on 03.01.2007. Thereafter, he joined as DDHS (Leprosy) on 02.07.2012.

 Thereafter, he was promoted as Jt DHS (P&D) which he joined on 04.09. 2014. His final promotion came as Director, Family Welfare whose charge he took over on 16.11.2020.

Dr Rumi is also a general surgeon. He also held the post of president, GWS (Galo Welfare Society). Presently, he is the president of APMC (Arunachal Pradesh Medical Council). 

Speaking on the occasion, DHS Dr M Lego congratulated Dr Rumi for handling difficult sections most efficiently and said that the Health department needs more officers like him.

Dr R Rina, PD (APSACS) credited Dr Rumi as his mentor and described him as a person with a hard exterior but a very soft interior.

V Chello, FAO, reminisced about his undeniable role in setting up of the present APSACS section during its nascent period when Dr Rumi was its Project Director. “Whichever section he was posted to, he served in an exemplary fashion and has left a milestone from which we can all take a cue and try to go further,” said Dr Marbom Basar, DDHS (S&T).

He was instrumental in creating the post of DDHS (Nursing cell), revealed Kijum Karga, the first DDHS of this cell and expressed the indebtedness of the entire nursing fraternity.

Meanwhile, the retiring DFW thanked one and all and exhorted everybody to “do one’s duty religiously”.
