RGU students visit NEHU & NERIE

RONO HILLS, Mar 29: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU)’s BEd IVth semester students recently visited the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and the North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE). Organized as part of their curriculum activities, the visit was aimed at providing the students with an opportunity to learn about the education system in the Northeast region and gain practical knowledge on teaching techniques, research and experimentation.

Their study tour lasted for three days that included visits to various departments and centres of NEHU and NERIE. During their visit to NEHU, the students had the opportunity to learn about the university's diverse academic programs, research activities, and outreach programs. They also visited the university's library.

At NERIE, the students attended lectures on the unique challenges faced by the education system in NCERT and how the institute is working towards addressing them. They also had the opportunity to visit the institute's audio visual studio, which showcases the rich knowledge transactions of the region.

The students also benefitted from a presentation by Prof N Pradhan, head, Dept of Education, on the "Scenario of Teacher Education in India and Teacher Education in RIEs of NCERT". Besides, exposure to the 5-E model of writing lesson plan was also given to the RGU BEd trainees. 

During the trip, they were escorted by assistant professors Dr Prasanta Kumar Barik, Dr Nisanth P M and Dr Tage Monju Burman.
