Lady drug peddler arrested with suspected heroin

ITANAGAR, May 25: The Anti Drug Squad (ADS) of Tirap District Police has arrested a lady drug peddler from Khonsa township and recovered 13 grams (approx) of suspected heroin and some cash from her possession.

Based on an input received regarding peddling and possession of narcotic drugs in the township, the ADS comprising of DySP (HQ) T Gongo, DySP (P) Nabam Rikam, DySP (P) Hage Nado, L/SI W Pokna, L/CT L Arangham and other personnel from Khonsa PS swung into action and raided the residence of one Potu Matsu (28) at Bank Colony, Khonsa.

After serving notice U/S 50 of NDPS Act, search was conducted in presence of the Executive Magistrate Pik Tayom. The contraband substance found in a blue plastic soap case along with cash of Rs 7400, suspected to be the sale proceeds, were seized.

Subsequently, a case (No. 04/2023) U/S 21(b) of NDPS Act has been registered against the peddler.

Meanwhile, the District Police has requested the general public to refrain from indulging in use and selling of any sort of narcotic substances and help the police in the fight against drugs.
