WCD holds awareness program on ‘prevention of drugs’

KHONSA, Jun 6: An awareness program on ‘Prevention of drugs and other substance abuse’ was conducted by the department of Women and Child Development at Lazu IB and Community Hall in Tirap district today, with a large number of participants turning up for the purpose.

H Bangsia, DD (WCD), spoke about the aims & objectives of the programme.

Resource person - Lobsang Yutton, Clinical Psychologist, Care Me Home (NGO) informed the house about the demerits of addiction and its consequences.  She also highlighted “how actually addiction really works”.

Joimon Tikhak, Counsellor, Care Me Home, a recovering addict testified his addiction life and how he overcame the addiction stressing that recovery is possible.

Sontung Bangsia, Chairperson, Care Me Home, informed the house to avail the service of Care Me Home for De-Addiction of any addict.

Rangmo Rangto, ZPM Lazu Block, appealed to the younger generation to stay away from drugs and other substances.

Lazu EAC in-charge D K Thungdok appreciated the department for conducting such an awareness program in a remote corner of the district at Lazu.

Loblin Lowang, Chairman (Drugs and Substance Abuse Cell), AAPSU and Nekhon Shin, CDPO Lazu, also spoke. (DIPRO)
