RGU’s IQAC conducts Faculty Induction cum Research Program

RONO HILLS, Jun 6: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Rajiv Gandhi University organized a Faculty Induction cum Research Program on Monday last, featuring esteemed academicians who imparted vital insights and enlightenment on critical issues in contemporary higher education.

A total of 74 newly joined faculty members attended the program.

The event began with thought-provoking opening remarks by Prof R C Parida, Director of IQAC, setting the stage for a conducive dialogue on the intersection of academic excellence and research in universities.

Vice Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha felicitated the distinguished resource persons - Dr N T Rikam (Registrar), Prof Otem Padung (Finance officer) and T D Megeji (Jt Director, Computer Centre, RGU setting the tone for the introduction of the newly recruited faculties for the year 2021 and 2023.

Prof V K Jain, former Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, underscored the paramount importance of research in the university system. He promoted the nurturing of a research-oriented environment, advocating coalescence of academia and cutting-edge research.

Prof Kushwaha, also the Chairman of IQAC, emphasized the significance of research and its publication in quality indexed journals. He also detailed various UGC funding schemes for researchers and outlined strategies to elevate the university's ranking.

He encouraged the new teachers to engage in research, community services, and outreach programmes, underscoring their indispensable role beyond classroom teaching.

Megeji shed light on the myriad IT facilities offered by the university, emphasizing the importance of institutional email for official communication. He encouraged the faculty to leverage these resources to maximize efficiency.

Prof Padung detailed the availability of seed money for research proposals by newly recruited faculty, explained the importance of financial literacy and understanding of GFR of India and various other procurement policies.

Dr Rikam outlined the prerequisites for successfully navigating the probation period and presented an overview of the university's operational protocols, providing invaluable guidance for the faculty.
