CHANGLANG, Jun 6: Changlang District Administration and District Tobacco Control Cell along with Police and Tax & Excise Departments carried out a surprise raid against illegal sale of tobacco products at Changlang township here in the district today and seized a huge quantity of tobacco products which were later destroyed, in presence of Flying Squad comprising Dr Jomnya Ado, DMO in-charge cum DPO, town magistrate Dr M N Taloh (EAC), Wangpol Wangsa (SI), Wangtu Mamai (ASI) and others.
Under different sections of COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) 2003, challans were issued to various shops found selling tobacco products without displaying health warning and sale of any form of tobacco products within 100 yard of educational institutions.
Dr Taloh and Dr Ado warned the offenders of legal prosecutions and ordered them to abide by the COTPA.
