ITANAGAR, Feb 11: State Road Safety Officer cum Special Secretary Transport Parul Gaur Mittal has requested all concerned to adhere to traffic rules for their own safety and safety of co-travelers on roads.
Addressing a gathering during a road safety march organized by the State Road Safety Lead Agency in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Traffic Police here on Saturday, she appealed all to spread road safety awareness among others. She also stressed on the need to shun the use of mobile phones while driving.
Director Transport Kanto Danggen has said that even one person not following traffic rules makes the roads unsafe for others, and hence, we must all strive to ensure traffic rules are followed, while ICR SP Traffic Sachin Singhal asked the students and other attendees to be messengers of road safety everywhere they go.
The march, organized as a part of the National Road Safety Month 2024 announced by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), aimed at generating awareness about road safety and practicing safe driving on roads.
Holding placards and shouting slogans in support of safety on roads, a large number of participants from schools, colleges, NCC, Transport department, Traffic Police and other institutions of Itanagar marched from Akashdeep market to IG Tennis Court here.
Road Safety Month 2024 is being observed across Arunachal Pradesh under which various activities like awareness campaigns in schools and colleges, motor vehicle rules enforcement on roads, eye check-up for public vehicle drivers, road safety awareness programmes were organized.
