A pledge to work with renewed energy to protect indigenous faith, belief system

NAHARLAGUN, Feb 11: The newly formed committee of Donyi Polo Khumko Nyedar Namlo here has pledged to work with renewed energy towards protecting the indigenous faith and belief system.

During an oath taking ceremony held on Sunday, the committee informed that the Indigenous Affairs Minister Taba Tedir has sanctioned Rs 1.75 crore from his department for the construction of a new Nyedar Namlo building. In the first phase, the government has allocated Rs 87 lakh for construction work, for which the team has expressed gratitude.

The event was graced by Dr Nabam Tata, advisor, and Prof Hui Tag, vice-chairman of Reyang Yerkum Pwglang. The new chairman Tania Doni, vice chairman Honipa Sono Yangfo, secretary Tadar Chachung and their team pledged to work with renewed vigour.

The team, meanwhile, expressed concern over the encroachment of Nyedar Namlo premises. It said that the new building will have a healing and prayer centre.

Honipa stated that Nyedar Namlo is a place where they keep their ancestors' beliefs, culture, and traditions alive.
