L/Subansiri, L/Siang & U/Siang celebrate success as ‘Har Ghar Jal’ dist

ZIRO, Feb 17: Lower Subansiri has become Har Ghar Jal district under Jal Jeevan Mission by achieving 100% percent saturation of Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) and the feat was celebrated at Abotani Hall here today.

Under the JJM, every rural household has been provided with FHTC in the district covering both Ziro-I and Ziro-II circles.

During the event, Sibe, Kochi Paker and Lich Lit were awarded as the three best Village Water & Sanitation Committees (VWSCs), Koj Diming of Ayo Koj village, Likha Naku Maying of Dodo Panchayat and Khoda Rillum of Tadarko Panchayat were awarded as the three best women handlers in Field Test Kits (FTK), while Dulley Pugang, Fitter PHE & WS Division, Ziro, Runje Pertin, JE PHE & WS Division Ziro and J Toko Tania, Consultant (M&E-cum-MIS) PHE& WS Division Yachuli were awarded as the best field staff from PHED, Lower Subansiri district.

On the occasion, Nich Raju, EE, PHE & WS Division, Yachuli made a presentation on ‘JJM under Lower Subansiri District and Arunachal Pradesh Protection of Drinking Water Catchment Areas Act, 2023’ while Kago Habung, EE, PHE & WS Division, Ziro made a presentation on ‘Operation and Maintenance Policy’.

Congratulating the PHE & WS Ziro and Yachuli Divisions and the prize winners, Lower Subansiri Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson of the event, Himani Meena administered a pledge to all participants to protect ‘Har Ghar Jal’ tap water and create awareness among other stakeholders.

Among others, ZPMs, GCPs, Chairperson of VWSCs of both Ziro and Yachuli blocks,  HoDs and officials of PHE & WS Division took part in the event.

LIKABALI: The District Water & Sanitation Mission, Lower Siang celebrated its success as ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certified district under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) on Friday 2024 for achieving 100% FHTC in a function held at the conference hall of PWD Circuit House, Likabali.

The celebration was graced by local MLA Kardo Nyigyor, MLA Liromoba Nyamar Karbak, DC-cum-Chairman DWSM, Lower Siang Rujjum Rakshap, ZPC Lower Siang Marpe Nguba, ADC Likabali Mokar Riba, SP Likabali Gautambu Dajangju, all HoDs, GPCs, VWSC chairpersons, ISAs, and Best Performing awardees.

The dignitaries inspected the photo gallery of Har Ghar Jal villages, Support Activities, Quality Assurance & Flood Damages; FTK Water Testing Counter and Model of 100% FHTC covered rural village.

During the celebration, Binga Gara, EE-cum-Member Secretary, DWSM Lower Siang presented a PPT on ‘Achievement of 100% FHTC coverage in rural villages under JJM in the district, the challenges faced in execution of schemes and way forward for sustainability of water supply systems’, Durik Kato, AE PHE & WS Sub-Division, Gensi presented a PPT on ‘Arunachal Pradesh Protection of Drinking Water Catchment Area Act, 2023’ and Rana Tok, AE PHE & WS Sub-Division, Nari presented a PPT on ‘Operation and Maintenance Policy of Rural and Urban Water Supply approved by the State Govt’.

The videos on ground testimony – ‘Success Stories’ of JJM; the video of Water Testing with FTK at village level by VWSC Ngopi village, and Informative video on Arunachal Pradesh Protection of Drinking Water Catchment Areas Act, 2023 were played on the occasion.

VWSC Chairman Lumpo Menga Ronya and VWSC Chairman New Ngopi Shri Nyago Ruti shared their experiences on drinking water catchment area protection based on an exposure tour to EB Project, Basar.

The Best performing VWSCs, Women Trained in FTK handling, field staff, ISAs and individuals who had immensely contributed for the success of JJM in the district were felicitated on the occasion.

The celebration concluded with a pledge administered to all the dignitaries and participants for protecting ‘Har Ghar Jal’ tap water & awareness generation.

YINGKIONG: PHE and Water Supply Department, Upper Siang District Water and Sanitation Mission celebrated achievement of 100% saturation of Har Ghar Jal under Jal Jeevan Mission in a befitting manner here at multipurpose hall today.

Gracing the function as chief guest, Mariyang ZPM Bojing Bitin congratulating the department for the milestone said that it is a remarkable achievement for the district. She shared “in past it was quite difficult for women in villages, they used to walk long distances to fetch water in bamboo pipes but now with various life changing public welfares schemes of Govt like Jal Jeevan Mission lives of people especially women have improved a lot in rural areas, it has make their living easier.”

She further added that ‘the department has completed its task and now the onus is on us to take proper care of water bodies and sources by keeping its surroundings clean and prohibiting the public from felling trees to maintain the healthy water resources and sanitation’.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson DWSM Hage Lailang commended the entire team of DWSM, all field workers at village level and all stakeholders for achieving 100% saturation of household tap connections in the district.

Speaking on the importance of Jal Jeevan Mission, the DC emphasized  that it was a dream come true situation for thousands of women in our district to have access to safe drinking water and said: ‘literally I can see happy and smiling faces of our women in villages as it has almost transformed their lives and  now women no longer have to worry about fetching water from distances and at the same time, I  also highly appreciated them for participating actively in successful implementation of the scheme’.

Further, he requested SHGs (Implementing Support Agency (ISA), PRI members, GBs and all stakeholders to take proper care of water resources and create awareness in respective Gram Sabhas on protection of govt property and its upkeep for betterment of society.

DC also called upon the department to ensure equitable distribution of water in all households and colonies and also to put proper checks on illegal tapping. He also cautioned the public to refrain from illegal tapping of water and advised them to get connection through proper channels by taking technical support of concerned department.

The DC also administered a pledge for protecting ‘Har Ghar Jal’.

Executive Engineer Er.Rajen Taying highlighted the objective of the celebration and informed that 5606 households in the district have successfully been connected through Har Ghar Jal under Jal Jeevan Mission before timeline on 21st Nov’2023. Upper Siang District has been ranked 2nd in the State level JJM implementation and 73rd at national level.

During the programme, best performing village water and sanitation committees, field staff and Field Test Kits trained women were felicitated in appreciation of their performances. (DIPROS)
