CHANGLANG, May 14: Changlang Deputy Commissioner Vishal Sah has called upon all the stakeholders to take personal interest in dealing with the alarming issue of drug abuse.
The DC made this call while chairing a District Level Committee meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) involving all admin officers of the district, Police team, PRI members, Anti-Narcotics Task Force, CBOs/NGOs, representatives of Rehabilitation/Drug de-addiction centres and the De-addicts turned experts.
Addressing the stakeholders, the DC highlighted the menacing effects of drug abuse in society and urged them to take personal interest in tackling the issue of drug abuse. Emphasizing the important role played by the Rehabilitation and Drug De-addiction Centres, Sah urged various line departments to liaise with such centres for successful rehabilitation of the addicts by facilitating them with various Govt schemes operational in their respective departments.
Emphasizing the need to contain drug peddlers, the DC directed the police to keep vigil against drug trafficking and to conduct regular search and seizure of the contraband.
“Success stories” of the addicts who have overcome addiction for several years were also heard and commended by the DC.
On the occasion, admin officers, ZPMs, HoDs and CBOs (Community Based Organizations) also presented their inputs. (DIPRO)
