Robin Hibu promoted to DGP rank CM, Dy CM congratulate the IPS officer

ITANAGAR, Jun 8: Arunachal Pradesh’s first Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Robin Hibu has been promoted to the position of Director General of Police (DGP) by the Central Government.

He is the first IPS officer from Arunachal Pradesh to be promoted to DGP rank.

An Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre officer of the 1993 batch, Hibu is currently serving as the Special Commissioner of Delhi Police. He had previously served as Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police, Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Hailing from Hong village in Ziro Valley, Hibu, who holds a master’s degree in Sociology from JNU New Delhi, joined the IPS in 1993. He has held various positions throughout his career, including Chief Security Officer at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He is also the founder president of the NGO ‘Helping Hands’, which provides support to Northeastern citizens in distress.

Extending his hearty congratulations to Hibu on being promoted to the DGP rank, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu posted on X: “Shri Robin Hibu, IPS, hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, has several achievements up his sleeve. And now his promotion as DGP, the first officer from the state to achieve this rank, comes as heartening news. Warm congratulations! Keep serving the nation with devotion and dedication. Congratulating the newly promoted IPS officer, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said, “His dedication, commitment, and exemplary service stand as a testament to his devotion to public service and law enforcement. His journey reflects the spirit of perseverance and excellence that will inspire countless young men and women in our state to pursue their dreams and serve our country with honor and integrity.
