DA joins DIA hands to promote ‘priesthood culture’

ROING, Jun 10: A one day workshop cum conference on ‘preservation of indigenous priesthood culture’, organized by the District Administration under the aegis of Department of Indigenous Affairs (DIA), GoAP, was held at the Tribal Culture Centre, Mayu-II village under Roing circle in Lower Dibang Valley district.

Addressing the participants coming from various parts of the State, ZPM Komji Linggi applauded the efforts of the state government and sought greater support for promoting the priesthood culture.

DDSE Amih Lego raised concerns over the declining trend of indigenous practices, especially the institution of priesthood and exhorted the participants to preserve it.

Dr Rajiv Miso, Assistant Professor cum Chairman ‘Identification, Preservation, and Documentation of Igu (IMCLS)’ deliberated insightfully on the preservation of Igu (priest) among the Idu-Mishmis.

District Art and Culture Officer (DACO) Sira Meto highlighted the objectives of the congregation and emphasized on preserving, promoting, and protecting the priesthood culture among the tribals of the State. (DIPRO)
