East Siang holds meeting-cum-workshop on ODOP

PASIGHAT, Jul 10: Aimed at selection of One District One Product (ODOP) for East Siang district as per the mandate of DPIIT (Department of Industry & Internal Trade), Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Govt of India, a District Level Committee (DLC) meeting-cum workshop was held at the DC’s conference hall here today under the chairmanship of ADC (HQs) Tatling Pertin.  

Textiles, rice, areca nut, ginger, turmeric, Jaggery etc have been identified to be the potential products from the district.

The meeting was attended by all key stakeholder departments like Textiles & Handicraft, Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary, ArSRLM and renowned entrepreneur from the district, Mohanto Pangging.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC stated that ODOP was a good initiative of the government and selecting the appropriate product as ODOP would definitely boost the economy of the district. He suggested the stakeholder departments provide authentic data to select the appropriate product as per parameters suggested by PMU (Project Management Unit).

Earlier, DDI Pasighat Matsam Jamoh briefed the attendees about the objective of the DLC meeting.

Potential products were discussed during the meeting.

Revant Bhattacharjee, consultant PMU (ODOP), E&Y LLP and empanelled consultant of the Department of Industries, enlightened the attendees on the aforementioned scheme’s features. (DIPRO)
