Accord priority to acquisition of land for dev activities of national interest: Balo Raja

ITANAGAR, Jul 12: Urban Development Minister Balo Raja, who also holds the portfolio of Land Management among others, reviewed the overall activities of the LM Department during an interactive-cum-coordination session with the dept at the conference hall of State Planning Department at the Civil Secretariat here today.

Advisor to Minister Techi Kaso, Secretary LM A K Singh, Director LM Mamata Riba and other officers/officials of the department attended.

Raja, in his keynote address, advised the department to cross check all the cases of land allotments to avoid any legal ramifications in terms of overlapping of plots proposed for allotment with that of the Govt/public lands.  He also advised to accord priority to the acquisition of lands for various developmental activities especially of national interests.

Earlier, the secy LM through a detailed PPT showed various activities of the department, highlighting the importance of various aspects such as Stamp & Registration, cadastral surveys, etc. He also stated that the e-Stamping process has been implemented in ICR & Papum Pare on pilot mode, which in turn would benefit the State from loss of revenue in comparison to conventional Stamps, which involves freight charges in addition to its original costs.

Kaso, in his remarks, emphasized the need for enhancing the lease period of lands to a minimum of 60 or 99 years, in order to make Arunachal an investment-friendly State. He pointed out that due to the present inadequate lease period of 30 – 33 years most of the investors are reluctant to invest here.

The Director underlined the initiatives of the department in its 100 days action plan and assured that the department would be able to accomplish the ‘commitments’ well on time.
