43rd NABARD Foundation Day celebrated

ITANAGAR, Jul 12: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office celebrated 43rd NABARD Foundation Day at its office premises here on Friday.  

Gracing the occasion, Commissioner Industries, Trade & Commerce, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Labour and Employment, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, Saugat Biswas commended NABARD’s initiatives aimed towards agriculture and rural development in the state. He also expressed appreciation on NABARD’s role as a knowledge based organisation.

NABARD GM D Mishra, in his keynote address, highlighted NABARD’s genesis and its role in agriculture and rural development. He emphasized on NABARD’s strengths as DFI, and outlined major initiatives recently undertaken by NABARD, such as PACS Computerisation, supporting micro credit, promoting rural entrepreneurship and agricultural innovations, climate change etc.

He also highlighted NABARD’s collaboration with state governments, noting that NABARD has cumulatively sanctioned 440 projects under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) amounting to Rs 4,105 crore.

A brief presentation on “NABARD in Arunachal Pradesh” was made by DGM S K Mishra. The occasion was marked by the cutting of a ceremonial cake. The event also saw the presence of Aloke Ekka, AGM, RBI, Rakesh Kumar, SLBC Convenor-SBI, Paogin Haokip, Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank, and partner members from civil society organisations.

Greeting NABARD on its 43rd Foundation Day, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Chief Secretary Dharmendra commended NABARD for its crucial role in rural development and empowering farmers and appreciated its relentless effort towards development of the state.
