Scores of children imparted vocational education through ‘Learn N Fun’ in Lower Dibang Valley

ROING, Jul 31: A two-day ‘Vocational Education (Learn N Fun)’ programme was conducted for the children of Child Care Institution, Roing by the District Child Protection Unit, Department of Women and Child Development (WCD), Lower Dibang Valley district.

The objective of the event was to explore the children’s creativity and imagination. The activities aimed to help the children improve their way of thinking, feeling and behaving, as well as gain confidence, sense of achievement and learn new skills.

The programme was attended by Children and staff of Children’s Home, Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), Chairperson Nani Maria Society and DCPU Roing. Altogether, there were 80 participants in the programme. Certificates were awarded to 53 participants.

Deputy Director (ICDS) cum DCPO G A Perying shared the importance of vocational education for the children and encouraged them to take part in the programme with “full” involvement.

Desai Linggi, Chairperson Nani Maria Society, also spoke on the occasion.

During the two-day technical session, the resource persons covered various topics. Resource Person Sabnam Ray (Manager Academic, Team Lease Service Ltd, Bangalore) covered the topics on introduction of self, importance of proper body language, how to develop career map, and planning of daily activities.

Sashi Pratatp Sah (Project Manager, Trio VidyakKendra Pvt Ltd, Bangalore) focused on ice breaking & brainstorming sessions, goals discussion and fun activities (Pictionary, Bingo, math baseball etc).

Sasanka Saikia (freelance artist, A&C Organization, Nisha Art & Crafts School, Guwahati) took up art and craft activities, where the children were taught how to make sunflower, paper ball, butterfly and basic drawing techniques, types of shading, colour concept, 3d paper flower (wall pasting), matchstick flower pot, aeroplane etc. (DIPRO)
