Apatani Valley ‘goes green’ with Vanamahotsava

ZIRO, Jul 10: As part of the 70th Vanamahotsava, a week-long plantation programme was organized by Hapoli Forest Division on the theme ‘Let’s Green the Valley’.

The plantation started from Siikhe artificial lake wherein more than 350 saplings including Prunus cerasoidies (wild cherry), Cuppressus macrocarpa (Goldcrest) & Juglan regia (Walnut) were planted with proper plant guard.

More than 200 volunteers from All Apatani Gaon Burah/ Buri Association, Dutta Pyapung Conservation Club, Ngunu Ziro and Siikhe Multipurpose Cooperative Society participated in the program.

Plantation for village beautification in the approach roads were also carried out with 350 Cherry saplings being planted with active participation from All Hija Youth Association at Hija village, All Hong Youth Association at Hong village & Biodiversity Management Committee, Niitiiat Hanoko.

RFO Tage Hanya informed that 4500 seedlings were also distributed to various educational institutions, government offices and general public to hold the celebration in a befitting manner.
