Rain triggered landslides, flash flood create havoc

ITANAGAR, Jul 10: Landslides and flash floods triggered by heavy downpour have wreaked havoc in the Capital Complex and other parts of the State.

Portions of several arterial roads in the Capital Complex and other parts of Papum Pare district and state have been badly damaged hitting hard the surface communication system. Dozens of dwelling houses were either washed away or damaged in parts of the State, informed sources said here.

Rain triggered landslide near SRPL petrol depot and PHQ Itanagar blocked the National Highway-415 early this morning due to which school going students could not attend their schools.

A culvert near Pagatara on Papu Nallah-Itanagar road via Jullang has also got filled with mud, due to which the traffic movement was disrupted. The NH-415 between Itanagar and Naharlagun also got blocked in the morning affecting traffic movement as the rain water was overflowing on the road.

Report from Doimukh said that the Pare river flow is on the rise with the nearby residences located on the both banks of the river are severely threatened. Several households nearby a church have left their homes for safety, in fear of flood fury from the Pare river. A portion of PMGSY road leading to Lekha, Tomru and Rose villages has also been damaged.
